Charity Overview – Center Valley Animal Rescue

Voted Best Non-Profit in Jefferson County in 2020, Center Valley Animal Rescue (CVAR) is a volunteer animal rescue and sanctuary that provides housing overflow from animal shelters and actively rescues neglected and abused animals in desperate need of intervention.  The rescue center provides safe harbor and rehabilitation for unwanted, injured or abandoned domesticated and wild animals.

Founded by Sara Penhallegon in 2002 as a non-profit 501(3) C charitable organization, CVAR works to find loving homes for adoptable animals, offers permanent sanctuary to domestic animals that cannot be adopted and rehabilitates the release of wild animals.  

Located on 32-acres of pastures on Center Road in Quilcene, the property consists of ponds, barns and shelters for large animals as well as a medical facility. Volunteer veterinarians provide life-saving medical care and surgeries for wild and domestic rescues.
